Here's my answers to the DA May 4th Star Wars prompts.

- Who shot first: Han Solo or Greedo?

Han Solo definitely. You don't make it as long as he did as a smuggler without learning to shoot first. I also don't think it makes him a bad person or a bad role model, I think it proves that he's good at taking care of himself and making sure that he lives to see another day.

- What aspects of the Star Wars Universe really get your midi-chlorians flowing, whether passionately or angrily?

I love the Mandalorians and the Jedi, particularly in the pre-clone wars era. I grew up watching Episodes 4, 5, and 6 with my dad. I was so excited getting to go see Episodes 1, 2, and 3 when they came out in theaters because that was the Star Wars that I got to experience. Which led to me reading a lot of the expanded universe stories. Having those different worlds I could go visit is what got me through High School. I love the fan community that is out there. That being said the one thing that gets me hot under the collar is when fans dis other fans for liking certain aspects of the Star Wars Universe. For example my favorite Star Wars Movie always has been and always will be Episode 1. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that it was the first Star Wars movie that I got to go see in theaters. Qui-Gon is my favorite character, I personally think Jar-Jar is hilarious, I love the story ark of how Anakin becomes Darth Vader and getting to see the forces that drive him there. But I have to be very careful who I say that to, because there have so many times when I've said that I like Episode 1 and all of a sudden everyone is trying to convince me why its the worst movie, I've been told that Episode 1 ruined Star Wars for some people, I've had people tell me that I'm stupid or a "bad" Star Wars fan for liking it and that really bothers me. One of the best things about the Star Wars Universe is how diverse it is. There is something out there for everyone to like, but it is not okay to make someone feel wrong for liking something just because it isn't your favorite as well. Rant over.

- What Star Wars fan art goes above and beyond capturing a scene or character perfectly?

Hera and Kanan by JankaLateckova   The Princess by Verdaera   Star Wars - Comfort by famira   Ni kar'tayli gar darasuum by Gorgona   Queen Amidala Finished by LilDevilAriel
-I love Star Wars: Rebels and I love Kanan and Hera, I think they are such good role models of what a supportive relationship looks like.
-Verdaera is an amazing costumer, and her Star Wars costumes are some of my favorites. Seriously go check out her work.
-I know I already mentioned that Qui-Gon is my favorite Jedi, but I really love the relationship he has with Obi-Wan. If you haven't read the Jedi Apprentice series go check it out, I know its technically not cannon anymore but it really shows how Obi-Wan's time as an apprentice really shapes his relationship with Anakin later on.
-Also not cannon anymore but I still love Darman and Etain from the Republic Commandos series.
-You don't become elected queen on an entire planet at the age of 14 without being a pretty amazing person. Plus all of the work she does as a senator while fighting against a corrupt senate being controlled by a Sith lord, her strength and dedication to doing what is right inspires me.
Mando Mount 'Drooga' 2 by Son-of-Italy  And just for fun a Mandalorian riding a dinosaur because I could totally see it happening.

Well I was on a roll last month. I finished a dress (FINALLY!) that I have been working on for quite a while, two shirts, and a vest. I have three more projects to go and then I can start working on all the things I need to make for my wedding. Like, you know, my dress. All in good time.

Well while this frigid weather has been playing havoc with my horses' training and teaching lessons, I have been very productive on the sewing front. I got quite a few shirts done last month, and watch your inboxes for my upcoming projects. Right now I'm working on a couple of corsets, after that there'll be a ball gown, another day dress, some more shirts and vests, and wedding stuff! Hooray!

Stay warm everyone and Happy almost Valentines Day!

Wow what a year! 2013 seemed to fly by so here are some of my highlights:

1. Quit my job at Hallmark!

2. Started teaching lessons at the barn where I board my horses. (Even started taking some of my students to shows where they have been doing amazing!)

3. I have been doing a lot of sewing for Reenacting! I've had to put a lot of my own projects on hold as a lot of people ordered shirts and vests.

4. I also was voted the vice president of our Civil War Reenacting group.

5. Attended the 150th anniversary of Gettysburg! (Also managed to tear the cartilage in my knee... but I'm better now!)

6. Got my sidesaddle and started learning to ride! It is a lot of fun!

7. I GOT ENGAGED!!! A few days before Christmas my wonderful, amazing boyfriend asked my to marry him! And of course I said YES!

So for 2014 I'm looking forward to continuing working with my horses and my students. And hopefully getting my thoroughbred retraining program off the ground. I'm looking forward to another wonderful year of Reenacting and a lot more sewing. And starting to plan my wedding with the love of my life!

Here's to a great new year!

So last month I kinda forgot to write a journal entry. Whoops, but life is good. I'm officially teaching lessons at the barn where I board my horses. And my sidesaddle came and I've been having a blast riding in it. The only thing that is weird is learning to balance my weight over my right thigh rather than down my centerline. But I feel like every time I ride in it I get a little better.

Other than that it's about time to start working on my and my horses' Halloween costumes. I'm taking it easy this year and doing something really easy. But it's something I've been wanting to do for a while now so stay tuned for pictures.
